BERKLEE ABU DHABI INTENSIVE WORKSHOP - Songwriter-Producer Collaboration Workshop with Miklos Malek
July 1st - July 3rd, 2026
Day 1: 6PM – 9PM
Day 2 & 3: 5PM – 8:30PM
Age:15+
Description:
This intensive 10-hour workshop brings together music producers, songwriters, and vocalists in a collaborative environment designed to explore contemporary songwriting and music production practices. Led by acclaimed producer, songwriter, and educator Miklos Malek (Jennifer Lopez, Ariana Grande, Yanni), participants will engage in the creative process from sound creation and music production to songwriting, recording, and mixing.
Drawing on a creative methodology that Miklos has facilitated with artists and students internationally, the workshop emphasizes collaboration, experimentation, and hands-on learning. Participants will collectively generate original musical material using vocal ensembles, harmonies, beatboxing, and body percussion, which will then be transformed into a custom sample pack. Producers will use these sounds to create original tracks that become the foundation for collaborative songwriting sessions with vocalists and songwriters.
The workshop culminates in a professional recording session of a selected composition, providing participants with direct exposure to contemporary production workflows and industry-standard creative practices. Through the process, participants gain practical experience in songwriting, production, recording, and artistic collaboration while developing original musical works.
Day 1:
Sound Creation and Sample Development (3 Hours)
Participants collaborate with vocal performers to create a diverse collection of original sounds, including choir textures, harmonies, beatboxing, body percussion, and other vocal elements. These recordings are captured and transformed into a custom sample pack through a live demonstration of editing, processing, and sample preparation techniques.
The session concludes with an exploration of how original recordings can be developed into production-ready musical ideas, providing participants with both creative inspiration and practical production techniques.
Day 2:
Collaborative Songwriting and Production (3.5 Hours)
Using the custom sample pack created on Day 1, producers present original tracks developed independently between sessions. Participants are then paired into collaborative songwriting teams, combining production and songwriting skill sets to create original compositions.
Throughout the session, participants receive guidance on melody writing, lyric development, song structure, and creative decision-making. By the end of the day, each team will have developed a complete original song.
Day 3:
Recording and Production Workflow (3.5 Hours)
The final day focuses on the professional recording process. Participants review the compositions developed during Day 2 and select one project to be recorded as a group.
The session includes a live demonstration of vocal production techniques, recording session management, performance coaching, and elements of the mixing process. Participants gain insight into the workflow and decision-making involved in bringing a song from concept to an actual recording.

Bio:
From concert piano to pop production, Miklos Malek builds records from composition to final master. Over the past three decades he has written, produced, mixed or played on records for artists as different as Jennifer Lopez, Ariana Grande, Anastacia and Yanni, with more than 15 million records sold. His career has moved through Budapest, New York and Los Angeles before landing in Dubai, where he continues producing and developing artists. Along the way he stepped into the public eye as a judge on the Hungarian X-Factor, mentoring young artists while navigating the chaos of live television and celebrity life. Quietly his work has also reached into film and advertising, with credits ranging from Friends and Prison Break to commercial campaigns for brands like Armani and Samsung. In the studio he is known for combining strong songwriting with modern production and real musicianship. Outside it, he runs workshops and masterclasses where the conversation often returns to a simple idea: in a time of algorithms and AI tools, the most valuable thing left in music might still be the human behind it.
