This two-day masterclass will take you on a deep dive into the art and craft of scoring for film, television, and video games.
Taught by composer and veteran educator, Sean McMahon, whose orchestrations can be heard on such blockbusters as Spider-Man 3 and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, you will explore composition, technology, and musical storytelling through a visual media lens.

You will discover the latest tools and techniques that have been heard by millions of people all over the world in film, television, and video game scores. McMahon, who also chairs Berklee’s Screen Scoring department, will reveal industry insights on how to become a professional composer and discuss the business of visual media scoring.

On Day 1 you will learn:

• How to create a range of emotions with your music

• How to compose cinematic themes that audiences love and remember
• How to expand your harmonic toolset for various dramatic situations

On Day 2 you will learn:

• How to develop your creativity and unique voice as a composer

• How to produce music with MIDI instruments in a Digital Audio Workstation
• How scoring for video games differs from film and television
• How to compose for video games using seamless loops, horizontal re-sequencing, and vertical layering
• How to start finding work as a professional composer
