Berklee Abu Dhabi Intensive Workshop - Promoting Health Through Song
Song can accompany an individual throughout life development, indeed becoming autobiographical in nature. As such, song is a powerful tool to apply when working with medical patients, whether the goal is the development of healthy coping skills, self-expression, pain management, sense of control, social connectivity, fostering of communication or parent/child bonding. This experiential course will explore various methods within the use of songs including song writing, song improvisation, song gifts, theme songs, songs of kin, and song affirmations; these will be highlighted by concise case examples. Furthermore, clinical and musical decisions leading to success in implementing songs with medical patients will be covered. In order to provide participants with an opportunity to practice and gain comfort level with these techniques, participants will be paired to practice covered material.

Creative Arts Educators' Symposium 2024
This intensive for educators in the UAE is designed to expand each educator’s knowledge base and vision for developing student creative capacities, soft skill development, and accelerated learning through cultural contexts in music and college to career strategies. The approach is achieved by immersing teachers in their music creative understanding to inspire students in professional purpose, providing instructors with access to contemporary popular music pedagogies and methods, and establishing site trainers with instructional tools for continued depth and growth. This intensive professional development series of workshops, observations, study, and practice culminate into an opportunity for reflection, presentations, and a community-wide performance. Additionally, Berklee Abu Dhabi will conduct focus group sessions throughout the two-day intensive to allow for continued research into the current practices, resources, and needs of the UAE teaching community.
